Choosing a program is a big decision. You may be wondering what living at Milestone would feel like or whether the support is right for you or your family. These answers are a place to start.
About Milestone
What is Milestone?
Milestone is a small, home-based residential program for young adults who need support taking the next steps toward independence. We help young men practice everyday responsibilities with coaching available as they learn.
Is Milestone a rehab or treatment center?
Milestone focuses on helping young men build independence in a residential setting. Life coaching and licensed clinical treatment serve different roles; coaching is not a substitute for needed mental health or medical care. If you are looking for substance use rehabilitation or a specific level of clinical treatment, talk with our team about whether Milestone is an appropriate fit.
Who the Program Is For
Who is Milestone designed for?
We work with young men who are ready for community living but need more support managing adult responsibilities. Some feel stuck after setbacks at school or work. Others have trouble getting started or following through, even when they know what they want to do.
What age range does Milestone serve?
Milestone serves young men ages 18–25. Contact our team to discuss eligibility and whether the program is a fit for your situation.
Can Milestone help someone with ADHD or anxiety?
Our program supports young men whose ADHD or anxiety makes everyday responsibilities harder to manage. The right fit depends on the individual and the level of support he needs. Our team can talk through that with you before enrollment.
Is Milestone a “failure to launch” program?
Yes. Families sometimes use that phrase when looking for help with the transition to adulthood. At Milestone, we focus on understanding where a young man is struggling and helping him take practical steps forward. Needing support does not define his potential.
Residential Life
How many young adults live in the home?
Milestone limits residency to six young adults at a time. A small household gives our team opportunities to get to know each resident and support him in everyday situations.
What does daily life look like?
Residents take part in daily community meetings to discuss plans and their most important tasks. The day also makes room for individual commitments and time to unwind.
Depending on a participant’s goals, daily life may include:
- Coaching and household responsibilities
- School or career preparation
- Community activities and recreation
- Personal appointments
Will I have opportunities to make friends?
Yes. Shared activities and community meetings give residents opportunities to get to know one another. You can practice communicating with others while having room for your own interests and personal space.
How long do participants typically stay?
Ask our admissions team about expected stay length and any minimum commitment before enrolling. We can discuss your goals and the time involved so your family can plan with clearer expectations.
Coaching & Support
What does a live-in Life Coach do?
A live-in Life Coach provides guidance as everyday challenges come up. That might mean helping a resident start a responsibility or work through a missed commitment. The goal is to help him practice handling more on his own.
What life skills do participants work on?
Coaching focuses on skills a participant needs in his own life. One young man may need help managing a schedule. Another may be working on budgeting or communicating when he needs support. Those skills are practiced in everyday situations.
Does everyone receive the same coaching?
No. We work with each participant to identify goals and build a plan around his needs. Coaching can change as he becomes more comfortable taking on responsibilities independently.
Academics & Career
Does Milestone help with school and career planning?
Yes. We help participants explore educational options and set academic goals. Career support helps young men understand their interests and prepare for work, including guidance with resumes and job readiness.
Can participants get help when coursework is difficult?
Yes. Participants can work with their team to identify tutoring support when they need additional help. Academic coaching also supports the habits needed to keep up with school responsibilities.
Family Involvement
How are families involved?
Family support is part of our approach. Parents receive guidance while their son practices greater independence. We help families work on communication and boundaries so they can stay connected as their roles change.
Is there coaching specifically for parents?
Yes. Milestone offers the 10-week Break Through Parent Training & Support Program. It gives parents a place to practice new ways of responding when conversations become difficult and learn how to encourage independence.
Admissions & Pricing
How do we find out whether Milestone is the right fit?
Start with a consultation call. Our team will learn about your situation and answer your questions. It is also a chance to discuss the support you need and whether our program can provide it.
How much does Milestone cost?
Contact our admissions team for current pricing and details about what is included. Before making a decision, ask about any additional expenses your family should plan for.
Still Have Questions?
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you are exploring Milestone for yourself or your son, we can help you understand the program and decide on a next step.
